If you haven’t seen already, Vince McMahon stepped down as CEO and President of WWE last week while an internal investigation is being conducted over an alleged $3 million cover up following an alleged affair.
However, Vince was not the only person to step down, as John Laurinaitis also stepped down from his role as Head of Talent Relations as a result of the accusations and the consequent investigation.
PWInsider has reported WWE Senior Vice President Bruce Prichard has been named Interim Head of Talent Relations, a decision that doesn’t appear to have gone down particularly well with many backstage.
Both Fightful Select and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer are reporting talent aren’t exactly delighted to have Bruce take the role, with Fightful reporting one source joked that “Vince only knows three people,” in reference to Vince giving Prichard and Laurinaitis several roles, despite having a very large team.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said “a lot of talent are not particularly thrilled by it” and the decision was “not necessarily well-received”.
Fightful noted in the same report that the unanimous feeling backstage in WWE is that Laurinaitis will not be returning to his role, and that he is “as good as gone”, with several people backstage celebrating this fact.
Not that it makes a lot of difference, but Fightful also noted Vince McMahon was said to be in a very good mood backstage at last night’s (June 20) WWE Raw taping.
