A WWE star has posted a photo of an unmasked Rey Mysterio following the conclusion of WWE’s recent tour of Mexico.
Taking to Twitter to acknowledge his home country before heading back to the United States, the Latino World Order’s Santos Escobar posted a selfie with fellow LWO member Rey Mysterio before getting on to their flight.
Posted with the caption ‘Gracias México’, the picture shows Mysterio unmasked, albeit with a deliberate hand placement to partially cover up the Hall of Famer’s face.
Despite clearly sharing a close bond, the two LWO members will actually be in a match against each other this coming Friday on the July 28 SmackDown in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The winner of the one-on-one contest will earn a title shot against current United States Champion Austin Theory.
Despite SummerSlam being on the horizon, it is not 100 percent clear as of now whether the match will indeed be happening at the major Premium Live Event or, as a recent report has suggested, on the August 4 SmackDown from Dayton, Ohio, the night before SummerSlam.
While both Mysterio and Escobar will be focused on that opportunity, they have both caught headlines throughout the recent tour of their home country of Mexico.
For Escobar, he gained adulation for his classy handling of an overwhelmed young fan at a recent meet and greet event, with footage captured showing the heartwarming moment.
As for Mysterio, the three-time world champion has himself been paid tribute to, however, this time from one of his former rivals, that being current World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins.
Following a match against Rey’s son Dominik in Monterrey, Rollins paid tribute to Rey in a truly touching moment of acknowledgement – to view the footage of this in full, check this link here.
