VIDEO: Seth Rollins Heartwarming Tribute To Rey Mysterio At Mexico WWE Show

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins has taken time at a recent Mexico house show to pay tribute to the “greatest luchador of all time”, Rey Mysterio.

The touching moment came following Rollins’ world title defence against Rey’s son Dominik at the live event in Monterrey last night (July 23), with Rollins himself later uploading a video of the moment to Twitter.

Rollins and Mysterio have certainly had their fair share of differences on WWE TV in recent history, notably the infamous ‘eye for an eye’ match at Extreme Rules 2020, something that the world champion amusingly made reference to in the post-match speech.

However, Rollins’ true admiration for Rey was evident as he named him the greatest luchador star of all-time while also thanking him for his impact on the wrestling business and Rollins’ career personally.

The two then shared a heartfelt embrace in the middle of the ring to the delight of the crowd at Arena Monterrey.

WWE’s recent tour of Mexico saw the company stage a massive event in Mexico’s capital Mexico City on July 22, where Rey received a rare title shot at WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

While Rey’s reverence from the Mexican people is evident, the complete opposite can be said for his son Dominik, who – prior to facing Rollins again at the July 22 event in Mexico City – was showered with a deafening chorus of boos.

While this is nothing new for ‘Dirty’ Dom, the reaction likely carried extra weight due to the continued disrespect towards his father Rey that has continued past their one-on-one match at WrestleMania 39.
