Cody Rhodes Vs. The Rock WrestleMania 41 Planned Stipulation Revealed?

An update has emerged on plans for The Rock vs Cody Rhodes at next year’s WrestleMania 41 premium live event.

Following Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship win at WrestleMania 40, The Rock teased a title match against the American Nightmare on the April 8 edition of Raw.

It was later reported that Cody Rhodes doesn’t have a major direction planned for his title reign until The Rock and Roman Reigns return.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this match is currently scheduled to be a WWE Title vs People’s Title match at WrestleMania 41.

Noting that anything can change between now and April 25, Meltzer wrote:

“At this point the show is scheduled to feature Cody Rhodes vs. The Rock. Dwayne Johnson’s idea is WWE title vs. People’s title.

“Those in WWE have noted that there is no guarantee Rhodes will be champion at that time, which is where the people’s belt comes in. But so many things can change over the course of a year.”

There has been speculation about Cody Rhodes setting his sights on The Rock’s People’s Championship, following a recent tease by the American Nightmare. 

The Rock was gifted the People’s Championship by Muhammed Ali’s widow Lonnie Ali at the 2024 Hall of Fame ceremony.

He and Cody Rhodes briefly swapped title belts on the April 8 Raw episode.
