WWE Star Thought He Was Getting Ribbed When Told About Brock Lesnar Feud Plans

A WWE star has revealed the extremely short notice he was given by WWE prior to setting up a match with The Beast Brock Lesnar.

The Nigerian Giant Omos faced off against Lesnar in the opening match of WrestleMania 39 Sunday.

When the bout was announced, it seemed quite random, with Omos flung into a program with Lesnar seemingly out of nowhere, despite the Beast having several unfinished rivalries WWE could’ve revisited instead.

And as random as it seemed on TV, it turns out the setup behind the scenes was just as out of the blue for Omos, who reflected on the surreal moment in a recent interview with Daily Mail Online, saying:

“That whole story is insane (how the match with Lesnar came about). It was the night after Elimination Chamber and we had Raw in Ottawa.

“I wasn’t on the show and I was going to do what I was supposed to do, drive back to Montreal to fly home.

“I was going to get a haircut and one of our producers said whatever you do, don’t go anywhere. I was on the show, but not a match, a backstage.

“They said it was a backstage with MVP and you guys are going to call out Brock.

“The moment they said that, I just go blank.

“They keep talking and I couldn’t hear a word they said. They asked if I was OK, I said, ‘Yes, did you just say Brock Lesnar?’

“He said, ‘Yes.’ I said, ‘No, THE Brock Lesnar? Woah, OK.’ I thought I was getting ribbed.

“So I go in and get there early and I see Paul Heyman. I say, ‘Hi.’ He says Brock is coming and I know it’s real. This is happening.”

After falling to Lesnar in the WrestleMania 39 Night Two opener (April 2) Omos proceeded into a program with Seth Rollins, facing off with the visionary at Backlash (May 6).

However, since then the 7ft 3 giant has not wrestled WWE TV since, but has remained active on WWE house shows.
