‘He Reminds Me Of Me’: WWE’s Rusev Praises Oba Femi, Predicts Brock Lesnar Victory At WrestleMania 42

Rusev has praised Oba Femi for his presence in WWE, but predicts that Brock Lesnar will be victorious at WrestleMania 42.

With Brock Lesnar having issued an open challenge for an opponent at WrestleMania 42, it would be Oba Femi who would answer the call, setting them on a path for their April 19 showdown.

Femi has previously set out his intention to “end” Brock Lesnar at the upcoming WWE Premium Live Event, which marks The Beast Incarnate’s first singles match since his victory over John Cena at last September’s Wrestlepalooza.

With Femi being supremely confident, Rusev sees something of himself in the young star who defeated him on the March 9 episode of WWE Raw.

It’s that reflection that Rusev would touch upon in a recent appearance on TMZ’s Inside The Ring, saying:

“Every time I see him, he kind of reminds me of me. When I came in, I was young. I was 28 years old, I was big, I was strong. I was dominating everybody for over a year, I was undefeated. That’s why I wanted to pick that fight with him, just to see where he’s at.I wanted to see if he’s ready.

“That boy is strong, man, I witnessed that first hand. He’s a former champion in shot put as well, so he’s not just a guy; he’s strong, he’s big. He’s very inexperienced, unfortunately, and Brock is Brock; you can never bet against Brock.

“I’ll be really looking forward to that match, but my money’s on Brock Lesnar.”

On April 19, Rusev will also be action at WrestleMania 42, competing in the six-man ladder match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, with Penta hoping to retain in a field that also includes Rey Mysterio, JD McDonagh, Dragon Lee and Je’Von Evans.

Addressing the upcoming match, Rey Mysterio revealed that he has a couple of tricks planned for his first match since this year’s Royal Rumble.

Big Man, Strong Man

The “big man, strong man” look has been a longstanding staple of the wrestling business, with many of its top stars being imposing specimens that stand out from the crowd.

While Triple H has recently stated that he’s a “bigger believer in the variety of things” when it comes to the physique of WWE stars, there is an argument to be made that wrestlers should look the part, whatever that part may be.

Over recent years, WWE has gone out of its way to showcase the facilities that they provide to ensure their roster maintains the shape necessary to carry themselves as the stars they are and to perform safely in the ring. Indeed, multiple stars share their workouts on their own social media, demonstating their commitment to their craft.

Rusev and Oba Femi may both fit into the “big and strong” category of stars, but what they bring to the WWE goes beyond that. Looking the part is one thing, but being an imposing presence is just one aspect in the whole package, with both stars being prime examples of stars who can bring physicality and agility to their in-ring performance, along with a persona that is equally at home in serious moments as it is in the humor, subtle and overt, that both have demonstrated.
