WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H has officially announced the United States Championship match set for SummerSlam.
US Champion Trick Williams has recently found himself in the crosshairs of Baron Corbin, with the returning star most recently attacking Williams after the July 24 SmackDown episode.
After the four-way match to determine who will face Sami Zayn in an Undisputed WWE Championship #1 contender’s match, Corbin ambushed Williams, leading to Williams issuing a challenge for SummerSlam.
Triple H has now confirmed that this match will take place at the August 1-2 premium live event.
Addressing the upcoming championship match, he wrote:

Trick Williams won the US Championship from Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42, following interference from Lil Yachty.
Williams recently revealed that it was the rapper himself who pushed for his WWE appearances to be more than a one-time deal.
With Yachty having in-ring training sessions with Williams in recent months, it would seem that the duo are preparing to team together at some point in the future.
Baron Corbin made his WWE return on the July 10 SmackDown episode, having been away from the company since the expiration of his contract in November 2024.
It will be interesting to see how they use Baron Corbin following SummerSlam, and if he will walk out of Minneapolis with new hardware.
With Corbin working with Williams, it seems that he will continue to work with younger talents, as he was doing prior to his previous WWE exit.
Baron Corbin’s last televised WWE match saw him and Apollo Crews defeat Los Garza on the August 30, 2024 SmackDown episode.
