WWE Star References Feud With AEW’s Bryan Danielson WWE, AEW

Ahead of the airing of the latest episode of WWE’s ongoing series: ‘WWE Rivals’, The Miz has used the opportunity to throw a playful jab at his old rival: AEW star Bryan Danielson.

The episode, which aired on March 31, focuses on The Miz and Bryan Danielson’s near decade long feud, which began in 2009 when Miz took up the role as Danielson’s mentor in the first ever season of WWE NXT.

While the roots of the rivalry run deep, perhaps the most memorable moment of it came during an episode of Talking Smack in August 2016, when Miz flew off the handle at Danielson after he was called a “coward” by the AEW star, who was at that point retired from in-ring competition.

Taking to Twitter to post the trailer for the episode – The Miz took the opportunity to provide a callback to one of the lines from the promo, in which Miz told Danielson to “go back to the bingo halls” to compete with his “indy friends” – advice Miz feels Danielson eventually adhered to.

Miz wrote:

Looks like @bryandanielson listened to me after all

Tune in TONIGHT for an all-new episode of WWE Rivals at 8/7c only on @AETV

Although Danielson was retired from in-ring competition when Miz delivered the promo, the pair would eventually get the chance to settle their differences inside the ring in 2018, with the pair facing off at SummerSlam.

Since departing WWE in 2021, Danielson has gone on to compete in venues of all shapes and sizes for AEW, NJPW and most recently CMLL.
