A WWE star has made a hilarious, albeit short-lived bet about CM Punk that could have potentially seen him lose $2.5 million.
Ahead of this week’s WWE Raw (December 11) the big question was which brand would the newly returned CM Punk choose to sign with; with Raw, SmackDown and even NXT bringing offers to the table.
Eventually, as many may have anticipated, Punk chose to commit to Monday Night Raw, teasing a future match with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in a promo segment shortly thereafter.
While many fans predicted this would be the outcome, one WWE star was also seemingly fairly confident.
NXT star Dijak would post to Twitter shortly prior Punk’s big decision, betting a whole heap of money with his followers that the Best in the World not choosing to commit his future to NXT.
Dijak posted:
If @CMPunk signs with @WWENXT I’ll give everyone who likes this tweet $500.
Then, when Punk instead chose to sign with Raw, Dijak would follow up saying:
Darn guess I will have to spend this $750,000 elsewhere oh well.
The tweet in question currently has 5,000 likes, meaning Dijak would now be out of pocket around $2.5 million, so thankfully for him WWE didn’t pull a very unexpected swerve with Punk’s creative direction.
Despite Punk deciding against signing with the gold brand, the former AEW star was reportedly backstage for this week’s NXT (December 12).
