WWE star Otis has hilariously revealed that he has been saying WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY’s name wrong for years.
After joining WWE, SKY wrestled on the NXT brand under her established name Io Shirai. When she joined the main roster in August 2022, her ring name was changed to IYO SKY.
Otis has now revealed that he has been getting SKY’s name wrong for years, as he hasn’t been calling her either of these names.
During an eating contest live stream featuring Otis, Big E, Akira Tozawa and Omos, Otis revealed that he has been calling Sky “Lio” this whole time.
After realising his mistake, Otis said:
“Wait, I’ve been saying Lio this whole time, is that not her name? Oh I feel bad now. She responds to it! Nobody corrected me on the tours either.”
You can watch a clip of this hilarious moment below.
IYO SKY has held the WWE Women’s Championship since SummerSlam 2023, when she cashed in her Money in the Bank contract and defeated Bianca Belair moments after Belair became champion.
SKY will defend her gold against Royal Rumble winner Bayley on WrestleMania 40 Sunday this weekend.
The reported running orders for matches on both nights of WrestleMania have been revealed, which you can read more about right here.
