Top WWE Star Admits To Wanting To Headline WrestleMania ‘So Extremely Bad’ WWE

Top star and current WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley has admitted to wanting to headline WrestleMania 39 “so extremely bad.”

At WWE WrestleMania 39, Rhea Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Despite winning the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble Match, Ripley did not headline the Show of Shows.

This did not stop Rhea and Charlotte putting on a show-stealing performance in what many regarded as the best match of WrestleMania 39 weekend.

Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Rhea Ripley admitted to wanting to headline Mania, but she understands why it didn’t happen. She said:

“Yeah. I mean, obviously I understand why we weren’t the main event. I do. I have to give it to the guys.”

“They had a very compelling story going into WrestleMania to the point that mami was interested and mami wanted to see who was gonna come up victorious.”

“But, obviously, being the Royal Rumble winner, I wanted that main event spot so extremely bad. So going out there as the semi-main, I did have a point to prove.”

“I wanted to show everyone that we could have main evented if given the opportunity to have a proper build to WrestleMania.”

“So I understand. I completely understand. No hate to the boys, but was a little bit jealous.”

Rhea Ripley is set to defend the WWE Women’s World Championship against Nia Jax at WWE Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia this Saturday, February 24.
