WWE Star Seemingly Takes Shot At AEW Attendance Figures

WWE Star Seemingly Takes Shot At AEW Attendance Figures WWE, AEW

A WWE star has seemingly taken a shot at AEW’s attendance figures during an event ahead of WrestleMania 40 weekend.

Whilst speaking to WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley on his own live show in Philadelphia, PA, Pat McAfee had some not so kind words for Ripley’s ‘Papi’ ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio.

Questioning why Ripley associates with Dom, McAfee took the chance to throw some shade, presumably towards AEW.

Giving his thoughts on where he feels Dom would be without Ripley by his side, McAfee said:

“If you were to (brush him aside), he’d be gone forever.

“We’d never have to see him again. He’d probably be at that other place in front of 600 people.”

While McAfee did not explicitly name AEW, it appears apparent to fans where his comments were aimed.

This is not the first time McAfee has taken aim at AEW’s attendance numbers, making a sly remark in May after a photo circulated showing an empty section of the crowd at AEW Double or Nothing 2023.

Interestingly, this shot was right in front of Ripley, who has some close ties to AEW via her real-life fiancé Buddy Matthews, who has been with the company since early 2022.

This was not the only dig from a WWE name towards AEW to take place during McAfee’s show however, as WWE CCO Triple H also appeared to take aim at a top star in the company – for full details on this click here.
