Earlier today, WWE reported that former SmackDown Women’s Champion had suffered an injury that would keep her out for nine months. PWInsider later added that it is believed to be a torn ACL.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has an update on the situation, saying that Bayley’s injury may have changed plans for talent coming into the blue brand.
Fightful also reports that two talents on the SmackDown roster were openly frustrated that the lack of depth on the brand left them scrambling for a replacement, with one saying that WWE ‘did it to themselves’, before adding that Bayley helped carry the company during the pandemic.
The injury was described as a “freak accident” and occured during the mandatory training at the Performance Center ahead of the return to the road.
