TNA Wrestling star Ash By Elegance (fka Dana Brooke) has explained how her WWE return came to be, following NXT Battleground.

One of the top matches at the NXT Battleground premium live event saw TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace challenge for Roxanne Perez’ NXT Women’s Championship.

Grace was distracted in the closing moments of the match by Tatum Paxley attempting to steal the TNA Knockouts Championship belt, before Ash By Elegance made a surprise appearance to oppose her.

Both Paxley and Ash were dropped by Grace, who was pinned by Perez shortly after.

Speaking with Comicbook, Ash By Elegance noted that her appearance was “seriously last minute”.

Explaining how her WWE return came to be, the former Dana Brooke said:

“My gosh, it was seriously last minute. I was going about my week and I had an appearance on Saturday in Jacksonville.

“I get a call, I think it was late Thursday, even maybe early Friday morning, and they’re like, ‘Hey, are you available this weekend? We’d love to have you come back and do something with TNA and NXT’. I was like, ‘What?! Oh yeah, count me in!’ They booked my flight from Jacksonville over to Vegas.”

“I kept everything on the (down-low). I was hiding. I had my hat, I had my hoodie, I had my sunglasses. Nobody knew who I was. I made that sneak appearance, sneak attack, and here I am.

“I took a red eye back to Miami this morning and am enjoying about a day and a half vacation with my family and then I’m back on the road for some TNA action in Chicago. I’m booked and busy, baby.”

Ash By Elegance was let go by WWE in the September 2023 round of talent cuts. She made her TNA Wrestling debut at January’s Hard To Kill event.
