According to the United States Patent & Trademark Office, WWE has filed a trademark for an NXT UK talent’s ring name.
On October 1, WWE filed a new application to trademark ‘SAM STOKER’. As per the USPTO, the trademark will allow WWE to use the name for ‘entertainment services’, namely wrestling exhibitions.
The following description accompanied the filing:
Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment
Sam Stoker makes up one half of Pretty Deadly, alongside Lewis Howley. The duo are the current NXT UK Tag Team Champions, defeating Mark Coffey & Wolfgang of Gallas for the title in February. Pretty Deadly most recently defended their gold against Joe & Mark Coffey on the September 16 edition of NXT UK.
Fans will be in attendance for next week’s NXT UK tapings, featuring Ilja Dragunov vs A-Kid for the NXT UK Championship.
