‘Giant’ WWE Viewership Figures For Triple H Addressing The Rock, Cody Rhodes & More WWE

The “giant” viewership figures for Friday’s (February 9) edition of WWE SmackDown has now been revealed.

Last week’s show was a big one, following on from the eventful WrestleMania 40 Kickoff event which took place one day prior.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, SmackDown had a total viewership figure of 2.578 million viewers, with a 0.75 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

Summarising WWE’s viewership for that show, Meltzer noted:

“SmackDown did fantastic. 2.578 million viewers and 0.75. I think next week’s gonna be the week. Because, no football, and they did an 0.75, next week they’ve got The Rock and Roman Reigns both on the show, and I think Triple H too right, because Heyman said he was gonna bring them on to confront Triple H.

“They were #1 for the night, by far. Second place I think was the Best Superbowl Commercials and Worst Superbowl Commercials special or something like that.

“The two big quarters were both the ones with Triple H – the opening quarter with him talking about the press conference, and then the other one was the one later with him and Heyman, and also the Bayley segment with Damage CTRL and Dakota Kai and all that.

“They did both 1.040 million in 18-49, so, yeah, SmackDown did giant numbers.”

Triple H, Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis opened the show to announce that the men’s Elimination Chamber match at the February 24 premium live event will determine a WrestleMania 40 challenger for World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

Triple H also addressed the fallout of the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff event, during which The Rock slapped Cody Rhodes after the American Nightmare announced that he’ll be challenging for Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Title at WrestleMania.

Qualifying matches for Elimination Chamber took place on that show, with Randy Orton defeating Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre pinning AJ Styles to qualify for the upcoming Chamber match.

These qualifying matches continued on WWE Raw, with an Australian star notably losing their opportunity to compete at Elimination Chamber in Australia.

This WWE star has now commented on their devastating loss, which you can read more about right here.
