A WWE WrestleMania 40 surprise was reportedly kept ‘very quiet’ internally ahead of the show in Philadelphia last night.
Last night’s WrestleMania 40 night two event kicked off with a surprise return of Stephanie McMahon, who resigned from the company following Vince McMahon forcing himself back onto the board of directors in January 2023.
Stephanie opened the show, welcoming fans to the first WrestleMania of the ‘Paul Levesque era’ in a similar manner to Triple H on night one of the show.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), the Stephanie return promo was kept ‘very quiet’ internally, with it actually being listed as a Triple H promo on the run sheets.
Stephanie was welcomed backstage by many, and she has long had a very positive reputation within the company.
Stephanie appeared on screen next to Triple H at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday night, which was her first appearance on WWE television since she resigned in 2023.
Last night’s show saw Cody Rhodes finally finish the story, defeating Roman Reigns to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
