Forgetting all of the changes and damaged caused to the wider-world, the Coronavirus pandemic has meant that WWE and AEW have both been forced to hold shows in empty arena in order to combat the spread of the disease.
While President Trump said he hopes to have fans back into stadiums and arenas by August or September of 2020, a medical expert in America has stated we won’t be seeing fans in arenas until 2021.
Many fans were hopeful that we’d see SummerSlam in August of this year in front of crowd, but Sports Illustrated ran an article about when we can expect to see sporting events return to normal. The answer was not promising.
They quoted Zach Binney, a PhD in epidemiology who said that ‘we will not have sporting events with fans until we have a vaccine” for Coronavirus. For those that aren’t aware, finding, producing and distributing a vaccine can be a very lengthy process, and could take anywhere from 12 to 18 months to finalise.
If it does take the whole 18 months to sort a vaccine and distribute it to the population, then we won’t be seeing WrestleMania 37 and even potentially SummerSlam in 2021 in front of live crowds.
For those, this is just one medical professional’s opinion, and with the situation so uncertain, don’t expect a concrete answer anytime soon.
