For months leading up to WrestleMania, many people speculated over where Braun Strowman would be placed on the card. Would he be inserted into the main event for the WWE Universal Championship? Would he be facing Elias? Would he be added to the WWE Intercontinental Championship match?
Turns out, none of the above.
Also for months leading up to WrestleMania, many people speculated over where the Bar would be placed on the card. Would they just be part of the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal? Would the be defending against the Revival or the Club? Would they even have a match at all?
Turns out, none of the above.
Instead, the Bar will be defending their WWE Raw Tag Team Championships against the team of Braun Strowman and… well we don’t actually know yet. This match seemed to have been thrown together as a way to get both parties involved in WrestleMania but morphed into one of the most entertaining angles on Raw.
Braun defeated every tag team on the red brand in a battle royal to earn this match at WrestleMania, but without a partner, would Braun be facing the Bar alone? Kurt Angle announced that Strowman must find a partner to team with him in New Orleans and much of the build has been around who that will be.
The internet has been its usual self with speculation and rumors galore. Could it be a returning Rey Mysterio? Could it be Neville? Or could it be someone else entirely? I hear Samoa Joe is fit, healthy and ready to return.
Now, we know this match won’t be the match of the night, but there is no denying that it is going to be a hard-hitting slog-fest with much of the focus being around Braun and his tag team partner trying to co-exist. Will this thrown-together tag team be able to beat the best tag team on Raw (also another thrown-together mismatched tag team)?
I see Braun and his partner getting the victory to allow the Bar to move out of the Raw Tag Team Championship picture for a while, this also would give Braun a much-needed championship to his name; it is about time that the ‘Monster Among Men’ wins some gold – or in this case, silver.
Prediction: Braun and TBD
