Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart Passes Away, Aged 63

We open today’s news episode with the sad passing of wrestling legend Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, who died in his home yesterday at the age of 63. Neidhart will be best remembered as one half of the Hart Foundation with Bret Hart, who captured the WWF Tag Team Championships on two occasions. He also worked for several other independent promotions, WCW and for New Japan in the 1992 G1 Climax. His brother-in-law Ross Hart revealed that Neidhart died from a grand mal seizure related to his alzheimer’s disease.

Several notable names from the world of wrestling shared their thoughts on Neidhart’s passing yesterday, with his long-time tag team partner Bret Hart tweeting, “Stunned and saddened. I just don’t have the words right now.” Ric Flair shared, “My Good Friend Jim Neidhart, A World Class Athlete And A Man Among Men. Rest In Peace.” Demolition Smash, who Neidhart defeated at Summerslam 1990 to win the WWF Tag Team Championships posted, “It is terrible I just heard Jim Neidhart passed away. I just pray for his family to get through this.Jim was a great friend and I will really miss him.” Mauro Ranallo – who dated Neidhart’s daughter Jennifer a few years ago – shared, “I’m not in the mood to write much. I just wanted to publically show my support for Ellie, Jenni, Muffy, @NatbyNature & @TJWilson I was honored to be allowed into the inner sanctum of the Hart family. Jim Neidhart always showed me love.”

Neidhart’s daughter Natalya was scheduled for a non-title match with Alexa Bliss on Raw last night, but instead flew home to be with her family. She shared on Twitter, “I can’t put into words how hard it is going to be for myself and our family to have to say goodbye to my dad… On behalf of my entire family, we would also like to personally thank everyone for the outpouring of thoughts and prayers. It’s meant so much to us.”

On behalf of the WrestleTalk team, we would like to send our thoughts out to Jim Neidhart’s family and friends at this difficult time.
