WWE has confirmed the return of women’s wrestling legend Trish Stratus for the upcoming Evolution pay-per-view. Stratus is booked to face Alexa Bliss, in her first match since the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble in January.
Late Saturday night, immediately following the ending of NXT Takeover Brooklyn IV, WWE announced the matchup on social media and during Wednesday’s NXT television taping via a graphic. The official statement read:
“…Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss will face seven-time Women’s Champion Trish Stratus in what is sure to be a match for the ages.
The Goddess, who is set to defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam, will battle the WWE Hall of Famer for the first time at the pay-per-view event set for Sunday, Oct. 28, at 7 ET/4 PT. Not only will this be Bliss and Stratus’ first match against each other, but it will also mark Stratus’ first match since competing in the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match earlier this year.”
Bliss alluded to her SummerSlam match against Rousey while commenting on the match on Twitter:
JUST ANNOUNCED: #RAW #WomensChampion @AlexaBliss_WWE will go one-on-one with @trishstratuscom at #WWEEvolution on Sunday, October 28! https://t.co/QEgzozBy04

Stratus became known as one of the pioneers of women’s wrestling in WWE during her career in the 2000’s. Her in-ring talent in an age in which women’s wrestling was planted firmly in the undercard was revolutionary.
The 7-time Women’s Champion and 1-time Hardcore Champion will meet Alexa Bliss in the ring on Sunday, October 28 at WWE Evolution.
