After wrestling at New Japan‘s Dominion show in June, and main-evening All In earlier this month, a lot of eyes have been on Rey Mysterio. Now, Ringside News is reporting on his highly-anticipated return to WWE.
According to their sources, WWE wants to see Mysterio back with the company before the release of WWE 2K19, which will be available October 5. It’s reported that WWE even have a specific event in mind for Mysterio’s return, which is one week from now at Raw, on September 24 in Denver’s Pepsi Center.
The timing obviously makes great promotional sense, and Mysterio will join fellow wrestlers Kurt Angle and Goldberg as legendary figures that WWE have brought back to hype a WWE 2K game. Mysterio, of course, will be available in the game as a pre-order bonus.
Joining the Raw roster could understandably be met with a groan from many wrestling fans. However, if it’s to promote a 2K game, you can bet that WWE will put the great luchador in something that resembles a big program. The question is, what?
WrestleTalk will report more Mysterio return news as it breaks.
