There was good news and bad news for WWE with the post-Super Showdown episode of Monday Night Raw.
Coming off the Australian pay-per-view, Raw enjoyed a minor bump from last week’s record low of 2.29 million with an average of 2.37 million viewers tuning into the packed broadcast.
Hour one did 2.53 million, dropped to 2.39 for the second hour and 2.20 million for the third.
It could have been a lot worse. WWE had stiff competition in the form of big football and baseball games, which led to worries Raw may post a new record low one week after the last one.
Fortunately for WWE the football number was down from last week, which likely saved them from consecutive weeks of embarrassment.
Even still, that is the third worst total the show has managed in the past 20 years, which is bad news for WWE considering they loaded the show with Attitude Era talent (a time when Raw was at its peak).
It will be interesting to see what sort of numbers WWE is able to pull once the likes of DX, Trish and Lita are sent back to their retirement homes.
Will Raw ratings fall below 2 million before the year is out? Let us know.
