Judging by a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE are taking serious steps to stop talent from joining rival promotions.
The report suggests that if stars can prove that they have an offer from a rival promotion, WWE will increase and in some cases double what that offer is worth to try and tempt the star to join.
With all the reports that a number of stars are looking to leave in order to join other promotions, it seems that Vince and his pals are desperately trying to nail down talent to big money contracts.
An example of this is Brock Lesnar, who keeps postponing his return to UFC due to bigger and bigger offers from WWE. It could also explain why certain talents rumoured to be unhappy, such as Finn Balor, have been given a push of late to try and keep them in the company.
Unlike many other promotions, WWE has the ability to sign as many stars as they want, even if they have no immediate plans for them.
Furthermore, current talents are reportedly being approach with long-term contract extensions, some for five years, in an attempt to secure their future within WWE.
It really does feel as though the recent announcement of All Elite Wrestling has given Vince something to worry about, and these seemingly desperate attempts to hold onto and sign new talent is a clear sign of that.
