Very few things remain secret within wrestling, and when it’s something as interesting as Chris Jericho and his All Elite Wrestling Contract, the details didn’t take long to leak.
It’s common knowledge that the top WWE stars are the best paid wrestlers on the planet, with the likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns all raking in millions of dollars every year, so to hear that the WWE locker room was stunned at the amount Chris Jericho will be paid by AEW is pretty big news.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that while the contract was not quite on the same level as John Cena and Brock Lesnar, it was still very much on the high end of what a WWE superstar could expect to earn while at the top of their game.
One of the things most speculated while rumours were flying around about AEW was whether the promotion would be able to lure WWE stars to the promotion in terms of wages. If it’s true that AEW is able to match WWE level contracts, then it’s perhaps unsurprising that they’re being linked with so many big names.
A very good contract, a top class roster and creative freedom would be very hard to turn down.
