Ring of Honor has announced that Bandido will compete for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship at G1 Supercard.
The match was previously slated to be Taiji Ishimori defending against CMLL star Dragon Lee. Now. However, with the addition of Bandido the match has now become a three-way. Bandido has been competing in Ring of Honor since his debut in December. This will be his first shot at a championship in Ring of Honor or New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Ishimori was challenged by Dragon Lee following his match with Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger at the New Japan 47th Anniversary show. The match between them was soon made official for G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden. Ring of Honor announced Bandido’s participation in via a video on Twitter.
Bandido became famous due in large part to his involvement at ALL IN. He teamed with Rey Mysterio and Rey Fenix in the main event as they were defeated by Kota Ibushi and The Young Bucks. Despite his quick rise, Bandido has become a major attraction on any show he appears on.
The updated card for G1 Supercard is as follows:
- IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match – Jay White (c) vs. TBD (New Japan Cup Winner)
- IWGP Tag Team & ROH World Tag Team Championship Match – Guerrillas of Destiny (c) vs. The Briscoes (c)
- IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship Match – Taiji Ishimori (c) vs. Dragon Lee vs. Bandido
