In the historic main event of WrestleMania 35, Becky Lynch might have prevailed, walking away as both the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Champion, but Ronda Rousey left MetLife Stadium with a souvenir of her own, a broken hand.
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the UFC Hall of Famer suffered a ‘severely’ broken hand in the “Winner Take All” main event on the “grandest stage of them all”. Meltzer added that he was unaware of where Ronda suffered the injury, or how long she would be out for. However, he did note that injury aside, Ronda was always planning to take time away from the company after their biggest show of the year.
Meltzer also spoke about the controversial ending to the match, which he said was, in fact, a botch. Ronda was supposed to be pinned clean in the ring and not get her shoulders up. He said that fans should not get their hopes up for a rematch, something that was speculated after WWE commentary acknowledged the botched ending, he confirmed that this would be Ronda’s last match in a “long time”.
