During this week’s Monday Night Raw, The Undertaker shockingly made his WWE return. “The Deadman” came to the aid of Roman Reigns during a two-on-one handicap match against Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon.
This angle was used to set up a tag team match at Extreme Rules, with Roman and The Undertaker teaming up to take on McIntyre and McMahon.
Booker T speculated that The Undertaker likely campaigned for a return to the company following his woeful match at WWE Super ShowDown at the beginning of the month against Goldberg.
The WWE Hall of Famer said this would have left a “bad taste” in Taker’s mouth. However, a report in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter would seemingly contradict Booker T’s suggestion.
Dave Meltzer is reporting that The Undertaker’s match at Extreme Rules was actually planned before WWE Super ShowDown. This would mean that the match was not made as a way for Taker to “make it up to the fans”.
This would also put to bed claims made by many that the decision was rushed and a “panic move” on the part of WWE.
