An exclusive report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful states that WWE wants to focus on bringing back a “lost generation” of wrestling fans.
WWE is keen to target the advertiser-friendly 18-34 demographic, a market the company currently struggles to attract.
The promotion was buoyed by the spike in teen interest in Raw last week in the first show of Paul Heyman’s regime and is keen to capitalise on that.
Fightful’s sources within WWE say the aforementioned lost generation is going to be a key focus going forwards and the demo will be kept in mind when putting together the show.
It is said that Vince McMahon has finally accepted that WWE needs to implement major changes in order to ensure it keeps generating new fans.
However, others have also noted that it may take some time before McMahon is fully open to changing the company’s mentality and accepting any radical ideas that come to the table.
Sapp adds that there is a degree of optimism behind the scenes that this time things will change for the better, following several months of hurriedly attempted ideas (such as the edgy third hour of Raw, wild cards, etc) that never really went anywhere.
