Two weeks ago, WWE confirmed that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff had been offered positions as Executive Directors of Raw and Smackdown respectively.
Paul Heyman has worked alongside Mr. McMahon on the last two Raw shows, and Vince is said to be “immensely pleased” with his work thus far. On the other hand, Eric Bischoff has not been present at either taping of Smackdown since his appointment.
With regards to the freedom that the tandem are set to have with their new roles, the duo will still have to report to Vince McMahon.
While it was reported that Paul Heyman was behind some of the key segments on Raw over the last two weeks, Dave Meltzer stated on the Wrestling Observer Radio that it is still very much Vince McMahon’s show:
“I’m sure some of those segments were [Paul Heyman’s]. I mean, it’s Vince [McMahon’s] show. I mean it’s always going to be Vince’s show. I’ve seen people go, ‘Well what happens if Paul and Eric [Bischoff] don’t get along with storylines. It’s like, they’re not the — It’s Vince! They’re gonna have suggestions just like everybody else. I mean, they’re gonna be more powerful, but it’s still Vince. You know Vince isn’t handing over everything to these guys. It’s a slow battle.”
However, that report has been somewhat contradicted by the ever-reliable WrestleVotes who claim that neither Eric Bischoff nor Paul Heyman will have to keep to the matches previously planned for the SummerSlam pay-per-view next month.
Was told recently that anything WWE had planned for SummerSlam in advance was all subject to change once Bischoff & Heyman fully start their roles this upcoming week. Good on Vince & Co to allow a legitimate clean start. No forced agendas off the jump. That’s how it should be.

WrestleVotes is reporting that Vince McMahon has said that the duo will not be subject to any “forced agendas” by the time the pair start their roles properly next week.
With regards to matches rumoured for SummerSlam, very little has been speculated as of yet. However, it has been reported that The Undertaker and Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon No Holds Barred match at Extreme Rules could lead to a singles match between Taker and McIntyre at WWE’s big pay-per-view.
