In the final seconds of last week’s Smackdown Live, WWE shot an angle where Roman Reigns narrowly avoided a backstage assault from a mystery attacker.
Because they had been feuding on TV in the weeks prior, many people automatically assumed that Joe would be the one revealed to have plotted against Roman, setting up a SummerSlam match between the two.
WWE released a video on social media today where a producer approached Samoa Joe at Pittsburgh airport ahead of Raw and asked if he was the man who attacked Reigns.
The Samoan Submission Machine did not take too kindly to the producer’s question, smacking the faceless man’s phone out of his hand.

This has been followed up by the news that WWE has (kayfabe) “fined” Samoa Joe for his actions at Pittsburgh airport.

WWE.com‘s article had the following to say on the matter:
“Samoa Joe has been fined an undisclosed amount by WWE due to his behavior earlier today at Pittsburgh International Airport.
When asked by a WWE producer if he was responsible for the forklift incident that nearly injured Roman Reigns this past Tuesday night on SmackDown LIVE, Joe responded aggressively and knocked the phone out of the producer’s hand.”
While WWE may be hinting that the man who attacked Roman was Samoa Joe, reports emerged shortly after Smackdown last week claiming that it is Daniel Bryan who will be revealed as Reigns’ mystery attacker.
It has also been reported that Daniel Bryan is in Pittsburgh tonight ahead of Raw. Perhaps tonight Bryan will reveal himself as Reigns’ attacker, setting up a match between the two former WWE Champions in six days at SummerSlam.
