Meltzer: Eric Bischoff “Had No Stamina” For Executive Director Role

Eric Bischoff has been ousted as the executive director of Smackdown.  He’s been replaced by Bruce Prichard.

According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer one of the major issues with Eric Bischoff was his lack of stamina.  Vince McMahon is known for long hours and finding the need for sleep a weakness.

Meltzer says he spoke with a WWE official who had the following to say:

“Eric had absolutely no vision, and once we were headed into FOX, everything was falling through the cracks. He messed up multiple times with FOX. Eric also had no stamina for the rigors of the job.”

Meltzer goes on to say that Vince McMahon is known for starting creative meetings late at night.  Some of those meetings might even last until 3 am.

Apparently, Eric Bischoff would leave the office around 7pm to have dinner with his wife.  After dinner, Bischoff would then be impossible to reach.

You’d have to hope the paycheck is worth it.  Wrestling is a demanding business, but seems like 3am meetings might be a bit much for anyone.

However, stamina wasn’t the only issue.  Eric Bischoff wasn’t familiar with the current roster.

It also became quickly noticeable he was out of touch with the product.  Originally, this was a move to sell the big investors.

Of course, anyone who’s been paying attention would know Bischoff hasn’t had a lot of success in wrestling when trying to recapture his success behind the NWO and Goldberg.   However, when Vince is running the company, is it really anyone else’s fault when the product doesn’t succeed?
