According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former Lucha Underground star, Ivelisse Velez reportedly had a recent tryout for WWE. Ivelisse was in WWE prior when she appeared on Steve Austin’s season of Tough Enough.
Ivelisse has been in around a lot of different promotions during her time. She’s appeared in NXT/FCW, AEW, TNA, and Lucha Underground.
It was rumored that she wrestled too much of a strong style when she was in WWE before. Apparently, management felt she worked too much like a man and this turned off WWE at the time.

Back in 2012, according to Meltzer, WWE felt women working stiff or a strong style was something the fan base wouldn’t accept. Reportedly, she vented her frustrations and this lead to her ultimately parting ways with the company.
Obviously, things have changed. WWE has had many performers of late who are known to work a stronger style. Shayna Baszler, Asuka, Ronda Rousey, and Io Sharai are certainly wrestlers who work a bit stiffer than WWE Divas past.
It’s hard to ignore the fact that Ivelisse is a very, very talented in ring performer. She was a major player for much of Lucha Underground’s time on television.
She won the Trios Titles on 2 occasions. There’s no word yet on if she has signed with WWE or not.

Ivelisse appeared in the Women’s Over The Budget Battle Royal for AEW at Double or Nothing. With so many companies on television right now, signing a woman of her talent would be a major coup for any company.
Whether it’s Impact, AEW, WWE, MLW, NWA, or NXT expect to see Ivelisse on a television screen sometime in the near future.
