Earlier this week Randy Orton teased a move to All Elite Wrestling along with The Revival, Luke Harper and other WWE Superstars.
It was reported Randy Orton, whose WWE deal is set to expire in the summer of 2020, was showing his interest in joining AEW to try and get a big-money WWE contract.
While Orton might be trying to get an improve WWE deal, it is being reported that he earns around $3million per-year with his current contract.
Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Orton signed the $30million deal back in 2010:
“In the end, for someone like Orton, who is believed to be making in the $3 million per year range, and doesn’t work a full house show schedule, WWE is probably the better place. At 39, he may be able to get an even lesser schedule. Whether he’s the right mix for AEW is a question but next year you’d think they’d be looking for a big pick up and Orton would fit that bill, there’s the question if they want to spend at that level for a new guy.”
It was reported that AEW decided not to offer Cain Velasquez a deal after hearing how much WWE had offered him to sign his multi-year contract.
With Vince McMahon clearly unwilling to let his stars leave, AEW would likely be unable to match the massive offer that WWE could throw Orton’s way.
At this stage, I would not be surprised to see Orton take a more part-time schedule with WWE as part of a new massive contract, something that I presume would suit him rather nicely.
