Last night marked the first advertised appearance for CM Punk on WWE TV for over five years. Punk appeared on WWE Backstage and spoke to the show’s host Renee Young.
Moving forward, Punk will be appearing occasionally as a special analyst on the new FS1 studio show. However, it is speculated that he will be appearing more regularly if ratings for the show dramatically increase.
On last night’s show, CM Punk gave some brutally honest advice to former Universal Champion Seth Rollins. This comes after Rollins called Punk out for a fight on Twitter.
However, the most noteworthy moment of the show, other than a cameo from WrestleTalk’s own Oli Davis, was Punk commenting on whether or not he’ll ever wrestle again.
Speaking to Renee Young, Punk said the following about the possibility of him stepping into the ring for another match somewhere down the line.
“I haven’t talked to anyone in WWE. It’s nothing that I’m actively pursuing or interested in, but I’m 41 years old and I’ve lived an experienced life where I know not to say no, but that’s gonna be a bridge that is gonna have to be built and it might take as long as building the Great Wall Of China because there’s some hurdles, there’s some hurdles there.”
This actually sounds pretty promising. While Punk did say that he isn’t that interested in returning to the ring, he seemingly didn’t completely shut down the idea.
WWE probably realises that they are onto a real winner here with the return of CM Punk. I truly believe if Vince McMahon puts the right offer on the table, Punk could be tempted into a full in-ring return.
