On Saturday night at AEW Double or Nothing, Cody defeated Lance Archer to become the first TNT Champion. The result came as somewhat of a surprise, with many people, myself included, predicting that Lance Archer would remain undefeated with a convincing win over Cody on pay-per-view.
Unfortunately, the great in-ring action was not what fans were talking about after the match, with the attention of many online fixed on the appearance of the brand new TNT Championship.
To their credit, AEW has produced some truly fantastic title belts, with their World Championship being one of the best looking belts in all of wrestling right now. However, the design of their latest title left a lot to be desired.
AEW noted during the show on commentary that due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the TNT Championship was not yet complete, however, we now have a picture of the finalised championship belt that will be seen on AEW TV in the coming weeks.
AEW posted the following image on their website, showing what the finalised TNT Championship is going to look like. For comparison, we’ve included a picture of the incomplete title that Cody won at Double or Nothing.
While the gold plating around the title does look slightly better, I’m still not overly convinced with the design of the belt. The middle plate looks rather boring, but perhaps my opinion will change once I see the title on TV.
