Prior to this week’s Raw, Christian’s last wrestling match came on the 03/24 episode of Monday Night Raw in 2014 where he defeated Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler in a four-way match.
This week on Raw, over six years since his last match, Christian returned to in-ring competition with a match against former WWE Champion and former rival Randy Orton.
It wasn’t much of a match though, due to Christian’s injuries, with Ric Flair punching him in the crown jewels before Orton punted him in the head.
The return of Christian saw a massive bump in the ratings this week, with Raw drawing an average of 1.94 million, which is an average of 200,000 more viewers than they drew last week.
Fans thought that this would be a one-off for the former World Heavyweight Champion, but a fellow wrestling legend thinks that Christian will work a match at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view next month.
On his podcast, two-time WWE Hall of Famer and former World Heavyweight Champion Booker T claimed that this won’t be a one-off for Christian, and thinks we’ll see him wrestle at Extreme Rules:
“You get the bug once you get back in. Once you get a little taste… It’s something that wants to just pull you back in, something that just wants to draw you back in, make you feel like ‘I can do this.
“We all feel that way, we all feel like we got one last run and Christian, I’m going to tell you right now, after just getting in the ring, just making that walk, I can only imagine if there had been 10,000/15,000/20,000 people in the arena, he would have really lost his mind when he got back to the hotel room. He would have had goosebumps looking in the mirror going ‘I think I can still do this.
“I don’t think it’s going to be a one-off, I think Christian’s going to come back, I think he’s going to get the bug. I think Christian will be at Extreme Rules in the ring, and the thing is, he’ll have time to get ready for it.”
Regardless of if Christian wants to step back into the ring for a proper match, he’d have to be cleared by WWE doctors and that is normally a pretty lengthy process that takes some serious time.
