NXT has announced next Wednesday’s show will now be called “The Great American Bash.” The bash was a name attributed to Dusty Rhodes.
When running the advertisement, NXT even showed Dusty Rhodes in the promo package. Many fans felt like this was a direct shot at the competition.
It definitely is an attempt to counter-program. NXT has regularly been losing to AEW on Wednesday, at least until last night.
Now Cody has weighed in on the situation:
😂 it’s all good friend. I appreciate the sentiment. Although the event means a lot to my Sister and i, I don’t own the IP and ain’t holding much of a grudge on it.
My focus has to be on our show and talent. Making it fun, making it violent, making it memorable. https://t.co/nWWMcxABJy

Cody referenced his sister who had commented earlier about NXT and WWE owing her mom a check for taking the name. Cody is taking the high “Rhode” in this one.
He does say he’s not holding much of a grudge. I guess that means he might be holding a little one. Of course, the best way to get back at them is to just win the ratings. However, after last night, they may have some work to do.
