AEW executive vice president and TNT Champion Cody has denied claims that the promotion was interested in signing Goldberg.
Jim Cornette said on his podcast last week that Tony Khan wanted to bring Goldberg into AEW and had big plans to relive the streak.
However, taking to Twitter, Cody has denied that ever happened, simply writing:
This isn’t real. We had no contact ha.
Goldberg revealed in a recent interview that his current deal with WWE lasts for two more years with two matches per year, so that’s how long AEW would have to wait if they do happen to want to bring him in.
It should be noted that Khan did speak with Cornette about potential involvement while setting up the promotion, so it’s not like on the surface there would be no validity whatsoever to his claim. If true, he would have known.
