Last night’s SmackDown, which was the go-home show before Payback, saw the return of Roman Reigns to the blue brand as well as an Intercontinental Championship match between Jeff Hardy and Shinsuke Nakamura.
As expected, the overnight viewership for last night’s show was up from the week previous, with SmackDown on FOX bringing in an average of 2.1805 million viewers according to ShowBuzz Daily.
The first hour brought in 2.210 million viewers as an average across the first hour, with that figure dropping slightly to 2.151 million in the second. The show brought in a 0.6 in the all-important 18-49 demographic.
For comparison, last week’s go-home episode of SmackDown before SummerSlam brought in an average of 2.1675 million viewers. It also scored a .6 in the 18-49 demographic that advertisers care the most about.
While SmackDown might not have been an amazing show, it will be remembered for its awesome main event angle that seemingly saw Roman Reigns unveil Paul Heyman as his manager.
It’s important to note that this is just the overnight viewership figure for the show. For a more accurate final viewership figure, stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com early next week.
