A new report has emerged detailing the procedures that WWE and AEW undertake while testing their talent for COVID-19 ahead of shows.
Wrestling Inc is reporting that both companies implement slightly different procedures, but all the performers we’re seeing on our screens have been tested.
WWE instructs talent to head to a parking garage the day before the tapings where they receive a nasal swab in their car. They are then informed later that night of the test result.
With AEW, the talent goes to an off-site location on the morning of tapings for a blood-prick test, which means it only takes 10 minutes to get a result back. Upon testing negative, talent is given a wristband which allows them to enter the Daily’s Place. No-one without a wristband to verify their negative test is allowed to enter.
The blood-prick method used by AEW is obviously quicker, and is also said to be a lot easier than the nasal swab WWE opts for. However, it’s also a lot more expensive.
AEW has been administering tests from pretty much the very start of the pandemic, whereas WWE was only doing temperature checks until June when there was a COVID-19 breakout among talent and other personnel.
