While speaking to the Pro Wrestling Junkies podcast, former WWE star Zack Ryder (now Matt Cardona) revealed that his All Elite Wrestling deal actually expired after All Out earlier this month.
“That’s the place to be right now. To be there even for a month, and do a couple of matches, was a lot of fun. It was great to just be out there and be myself again. Hopefully, we’ll do it again soon.”
Cardona only debuted for AEW on the June 23 episode of Dynamite, saving his real-life good friend Cody Rhodes from an attack at the hands of The Dark Order. He then teamed with Cody the following week.
Cardona only worked two matches during his time with AEW, including a match where he teamed with the Natural Nightmare and Scorpio Sky to take on The Dark Order at All Out. Matt is actually undefeated in AEW.
When the former United States Champion debuted for the promotion, many people thought he’d be more full-time signing for AEW, with someone even speculating that he’d be facing Cody at All Out. However, as we know, neither of those came to be.
While Cardona said that his current stint with Tony Khan’s AEW has come to an end, he did also note that he’d be open to doing some more work with the exciting promotion over the coming weeks and months.
