Jim Ross is a WWE Hall of Famer and has a long history in just about every role in wrestling besides being an actual wrestler. With that history, he understands how wrestling works better than just about anyone else on the planet.
With that understanding, Jim Ross addressed where he sees Miz in terms of being around the WWE Championship scene in the years to come on his Grilling JR Podcast:
“You never say never in WWE because they do strange booking and they come out of left field from time to time which is not unusual for any booker or any creative group. I don’t know that he will be the WWE Champion again. Would it surprise me? No, but I would kind of doubt it. He’s one of those guys like Jake Roberts used to be. He didn’t need the title to be over. As long as the Miz is able to communicate in whatever form that may take, he will be a top guy.”
I don’t know if Jake Roberts is a name you’d ever expect to be compared with The Miz, but Ross has often commented he sees a role for The Miz as a manager after he hangs up his wrestling boots. Jake Roberts has found a spot for himself in AEW acting as a manager for Lance Archer.
Miz could wind up going after either championship in near future. He is currently involved in an angle where he is trying to steal the MITB briefcase away from Otis.
If he wins it, he could challenge for either title. With the draft tomorrow night, we could see The Miz chasing down Drew McIntyre or Randy Orton in the near future.
