A name who was released by WWE earlier this year could be making a return to the company according to a current star who he’s very close with.
Speaking with ESPN, Rey Mysterio said he believes Cain Velasquez isn’t gone from WWE for good and will be back.
Mysterio said:
“I can’t dig into the exact situation with Cain. I do know for a fact that he’s very dedicated, he’s very passionate about lucha libre and about wrestling, I know this was one of his biggest dreams to be a part of the WWE. I honestly don’t think that he’s gone for good. I think he’s going to make an appearance and a comeback.”
Velasquez only wrestled two matches for WWE, one of which was a house show in Mexico in November 2019. The other was the Crown Jewel pay-per-view on October 31, 2019 in Saudi Arabia when he unsuccessfully challenged Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship.
Mysterio trained with Velasquez, which was documented on a WWE Network show following the latter’s debut. He had wrestled a few matches for AAA before WWE’s signing of him, but was released as part of the company’s supposed COVID-19 measures.
