It’s fair to say that Rey Mysterio is a wrestling legend. I mean, he’s often the guy that your friends ask “is he still wrestling?” when they find out you still watch WWE. If that’s not proof that he has been a huge star for years, then I don’t know what is.
The question for many of his fans is when is the masked great planning to retire? Well, he sat down with Lilian Garcia on a recent episode of her Chasing Glory podcast on the WWE Network to discuss exactly that.
He explained that while he currently feels great, he doesn’t see himself wrestling past 50. For context, Rey is currently 45.
“I’ll be 45 in December. And I don’t see myself going past 50, that’s for sure. My body feels great right now. I’ve been doing new methods of therapy – STEM cells, hyperbaric chambers, cryo chambers, CBD’s, you know, a lot of things that benefit me. I think that has given me more longevity.”
He also made it clear that he plans to retire in WWE, which would suggest he will likely be signing a contract extension at some point.
“Definitely, yes,” he replied on if he wants to retire in WWE. “Once you enter here, you can’t go any higher than this. This is where I’ve always envisioned myself finishing my career.”
He was asked whether he had any idea who he would like to have his last match with, but declined to answer as there were too many good options to choose from.
Now that his son is in WWE, it would seem like the obvious choice…it’s gonna be Baron Corbin, isn’t it?
