Unfortunately, one of the more forgettable matches from WrestleMania 35 was Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns. Fast forward two years, and could it be the match that WWE is planning to headline this year’s show?
WWE was building towards Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns at Survivor Series last week on SmackDown, but the match will only take place this weekend if Drew beats Randy Orton for the WWE title on Raw tonight.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated that if the match doesn’t happen this weekend at Survivor Series, Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre could be one WWE is planning for WrestleMania:
“At some point they’re going to do that match. If they don’t do it now then that tells me they’re probably going to do it at WrestleMania.”
McIntyre vs. Reigns is probably the biggest match that WWE could book between two full-time stars right now, so it certainly makes sense to hear that WWE could be considering that as a ‘Mania match.
However, it has been speculated that WWE is hoping to have The Rock return for next year’s WrestleMania show to face Reigns. This could obviously override any plans for Roman and Drew.
