With holiday-themed NXT and AEW Dynamite episodes, we now know the viewership for both shows. For the second-last episodes of the year, both shows were down this week.
This was to be expected as an NBA game ran head-to-head with NXT and pushed AEW back from its normal timeslot. Bryan Alvarez reported the numbers on Twitter earlier today. Here is the tweet:
AEW: 775,000
NXT: 698,000— Bryan Alvarez (@bryanalvarez) December 24, 2020
AEW Dynamite drew an average of 775,000 viewers, down from last week’s 806,000 average viewers. Meanwhile, NXT was also down this week as they garnered 698,000 viewers. This was 68,000 viewers less than last week’s number of 766,000.
Dynamite features an AEW World Tag Team Championship match in the main event. The Young Bucks took on The Acclaimed for the titles and successfully defended them. Chris Jericho and MJF took on Top Flight on the show while we also got another appearance from Sting.
Meanwhile on NXT, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae put on a Gargano Christmas segment. Holiday wackiness was abound on both shows but this was the biggest example of it. Also on the show, Rhea Ripley defeated Dakota Kai and Adam Cole beat the Velveteen Dream.
