As per the United States Patent and Trademark office (USPTO), WWE has filed to trademark the ring name of a new NXT star.
WWE has filed to trademark “ELEKTRA LOPEZ“. The USPTO report states that the trademark would allow WWE to use the name for “entertainment services”, namely in pro-wrestling exhibitions.
The following description accompanied the filing:
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment”
Elektra Lopez, formerly known as Karissa Rivera, previously wrestled for the likes of wXw and ROH. Previously wrestling Lacey Evans in a one-off match in 2018, Lopez returned to NXT this week, losing to Franky Monet.
Monet, fka Taya Valkyrie, has recently noted that she fought hard to keep her previous ring name, but WWE insisted on the name change.
In other trademark news, Keith Lee is currently experiencing issues trying to trademark his name.
