CM Punk has shared an intriguing post to Instagram, ahead of his rumored AEW debut on Friday’s episode of Rampage.
On his Instagram story, CM Punk posted the numbers “05, 11, 21”. While these individual digits could mean anything, a number of fans have pointed out that they could symbolise the years to feature a “Summer of Punk”.
In 2005, the Summer of Punk storyline saw CM Punk threaten to bring the ROH World Championship to WWE after signing with the company. He was eventually defeated by Colt Cabana for the title before officially joining WWE developmental promotion OVW.
At Money in the Bank 2011, Punk pinned John Cena to win the WWE Championship on July 17, 2011, the day his contract expired. He returned in the following weeks to confront Cena, who had won a “new” WWE Championship, setting up an undisputed title match for SummerSlam 2011.
The “21” seems to hint at his rumored AEW Rampage debut. At the CFFC 99 MMA event on Saturday, the former WWE Champion teased his wrestling return both with his clothes and commentary.
