Some more details have come to light regarding the imminent changes that will be made to NXT as WWE’s developmental setup.
In the days following NXT TakeOver 36 this Sunday, NXT will be taping at least a month’s worth of shows in advance as per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The reason for this is to allow time for renovations to be made to the Capitol Wrestling Center (Performance Center) which is the home of NXT TV.
The deal with Full Sail University is over, so the Capitol Wrestling Center will be NXT’s home going forward long-term.
There was a belief that the show looks “too dark” so there are going to be some changes made to the lighting and overall presentation to make it appear more bright and colorful, including potentially removing of the plexiglass from between the crowd and ringside.
The brawl between Karrion Kross and Samoa Joe last week is the “storyline” reason the arena is being revamped, since they destroyed a lot of apparatus.
In terms of the show’s creative direction, the idea is to give more TV time to young prospects instead of indie veterans, so it will be a lot more of a true developmental show than it has been recently.
Dave Meltzer specifically drew the comparison to what NXT was like in 2015 as to what the plan is to shift it towards.
